How to Use Claude for Rewriting a Resume

The exact prompt, setup, and codes to get great results.

The Problem

Most resumes read like job duty lists. Hiring managers spend 6 seconds scanning, and generic bullet points that start with 'Responsible for...' get skipped instantly.

The Prompt (Copy & Paste)

Rewrite my resume bullet points to be achievement-focused.

Current role: [JOB TITLE] at [COMPANY]
Industry: [INDUSTRY]
Target role: [WHAT I'M APPLYING FOR]

Here are my current bullets:
[PASTE BULLETS]

Rules:
- Start each bullet with a strong action verb (not "Responsible for" or "Helped")
- Include quantified results where possible (%, $, time saved)
- If I didn't provide numbers, ask me for them β€” don't make them up
- Align the language with what [TARGET ROLE] job descriptions typically emphasize
- Keep each bullet to 1-2 lines max
- Remove jargon that won't mean anything to someone outside my company

Replace the [BRACKETED] placeholders with your specific details.

What You Get

Resume bullets that pass the 'So what?' test. Each one communicates impact, not just activity. ATS-friendly language aligned with your target role.
